In the Silence

Psalm 62

1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him

I got up at 3:00 am today to take a friend to the airport for an early morning flight.

Not much is happening at 3:00 am.

Many people may not remember that there was a point of silence during the day a while back. When I was growing up, I knew it was late when the test pattern came on the TV. It was usually proceed by an announcement:

This concludes the daily programming for WABC. Thank you for watching.

The test patterning came on for awhile and them there was static as the stations turned off their transmitter until the station went back on air in the morning.

There was a period of silence...

Not any more! We have 24 hour news where we know what is happening at all times of the day and night.

We don't have much silence any more.

We have internet news, TV and Radio. There is always something happening.

God wants us to be silent before him.

It is in the silence that we hear the voice of God;

It is in the silence that we see the reflection of who we are;

It is in the silence that we see in the eyes those around who are important;

It is in the silence where wisdom is gleaned and direction shown;

It is in the silence where grace and mercy are given and received;

It is in the silence where the love of God is felt.

Let me be silent before you today as I seek your wisdom and direction on the Adventure in Middle Grove
