Great is Thy Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23 (New International Version)

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Yesterday I continued to be struck by God's unwavering love for me and how he promises me the "Crown of Life" The word promise is another word losing it's clout in our modern language. There is even a butter substitute called "Promise" It is called Promise because it is not butter. What a promise that is!

The promise I have in God must not be in temporal things or promises made on this earth. It must be made on the promise that God is faithful and he does not fail. Many times in today's culture the old is thrown away because it is old and can't have any relevance. Many "new"churches think they have a new way to worship and the old way is not good any more. The hymns of old seem to have lost their meaning and cannot be relevant in our society today.

This morning as I awoke an "old hymn" came to mind about the promises God as made and how they are built on His strength and not mine. It gives me great hope in the future that God is the one who is faithful and will bring me through all the trials and tests of this life.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain

Lord,

Thank you for your promise of HOPE

Thank you for your promise of STRENGTH

Thank you for your promise of PEACE

Thank you for your faithfulness and peace and the new mercies they bring every day as your humble servant continues the Adventure in Middle Grove
